Lance Naik Mool Raj retired from the Army and joined the DSC 13 years ago. He was from samba district of Jammu.
He had just returned from his leave after celebrating New year with his family.
On the night of 01/02 January 2016 Lance Naik Mool Raj fought bravely with the terrorists and was martyred on 02 January 2016.
He is survived by his mother, his wife Gayatri Devi, college going son Asish kumar and daughter Pooja Devi.

The

Havaldar Sanjeevan Rana who was 51 years old had retired from Dogra Regiment in 2009 and joined the DSC. He was transferred to the Pathankot air base from Jammu two years ago.
He hailed from Siyunsh village about 30 kms from Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.
He was employed on security duties on the night of 01/02 January 2016 when the terrorists struck. He fought bravely despite being hit by five bullets and martyred on 02 January 2016.
The martyr's father Rattan Singh who also served in the army said that he
will make his grandson also to join Indian Army.

Gurusewak Singh is the youngest and arguably the most dynamic of all the Pathankot martyrs and joined the Guard Commando Force of the Indian Air Force only six years ago.
Shahid Bhagat singh, the legendary freedom fighter was his idol.
Being part of the Indian Air Force’s Elite commando force Garud, he was rushed from Adampur to the attack spot at the Pathankot Air Base on the night of 01/02 January 2016. He was martyred in the gun battle that followed with the terrorists.
He got married only in November 2015 and is survived by his young bride Jaspreet Kaur. His family resides in Garnala village of Ambala District.

Sepoy Jagdish Chand was posted with 546 Defence Service Platoon attached with 18 Wing Air Force. On the night 01/02 Jan 2016 at 0330 hr while the individual was working on duty at Defence Service Corps lines, five to six heavily armed terrorists entered the lines and opened indiscriminate fire on the troops working in that location. The heavy firing resulted in two of his colleagues being fatally wounded. Showing presence of mind and conspicuous bravery Sepoy Jagdish Chand unmindful of his own safety ran after the closest terrorist, chased and overpowered him. Sepoy Jagdish Chand snatched the terrorist’s weapon to shoot him dead.

He was martyred when two more terrorists in vicinity opened fire on
Sepoy Jagdish Chand killing him on the spot.
His
act was reportedly bravest of all as he snatched a rifle successfully
from a terrorist and killed him depite being unarmed himself and saved
many lives in the process as this gave them additional reaction time.
Sepoy Jagdish Chand’s actions was also a setback to the terrorists. For
his unparalled act of bravery Sepoy Jagdish Chand is awarded ‘KIRTI CHAKRA (POSTHUMOUS)’.
He is survived by his wife Snehlata, son(Rajat) and two daughters(Kiran and Tamanna).

1. Lt Col Niranjan Kumar Indian army
Lt Col
Niranjan Kumar was a 34 year old native of Elambassery village of
Palakkad district. He was brought up in Bengaluru as his father Shri EK
Sivarajan was employed in BEML.
He first
joined the Madras Engineering Group on a Short Service Commission (SSC) and
later opted for a permanent commission. At the time of his demise he completed
22 months with the NSG.
He is
survived by his father, mother Smt Radha who brought him up (his biological
mother Smt rajeshwari passed away when he was just 3 years old), wife Radhika
and two year old daughter vismay.
He was
martyred during combing operations on 03 January 2016 as part of operations to
clear the base of terrorists. He passed away in a grenade explosion.
Thousands of
people gave paid homage to his mortal remains and it was touching to see many
many bus loads of school children who arrived to pay their respects. That
visit must have given them a hero to emulate.

Kulwant who was 49 years old, joined the army when he was just 19 and retired in 2004, after which he joined the DSC. He was posted at his first home posting at Pathankot only two months before.
He was a very patriotic person who would also pen patriotic songs. His neighbours and acquaintances recall him to be a simple honest and cheerful person.
He is survived his wife Harbhajan Kaur and two young sons, Satwinder and Gursharan, one in class 12 and the other in class 6.

On the night of 01/02 January 2016, Havaldar Kulwant Singh and Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh were on
duty guarding the airbase when the militants tried to infiltrate it. A gun-battle ensued in the course of which
both the terrorists were killed but Havaldar Kulwant Singh {and also Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh} was martyred as he succumbed to his own
injuries. His extra ordinary courage
in the face of the enemy came in for much acclaim from all across the country.
He is survived his wife Harbhajan Kaur and two young sons, Satwinder and Gursharan, one in class 12 and the other in class 6.
