The details of the martyrs are as follows:-

3. Hawaldar Kulwant Singh      DSC

Hawaldar Kulwant Singh of the DSC was a resident of the Chak Sharif village near Gurdaspur in Punjab.

Kulwant who was 49 years old,  joined the army when he was just 19 and retired in 2004, after which he joined the DSC. He was posted at his first home posting at Pathankot only two months before.

He was a very patriotic person who would also pen patriotic songs. His neighbours and acquaintances recall him to be a simple honest and cheerful person.

On the night of 01/02 January 2016, Havaldar Kulwant Singh and Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh were on duty guarding the airbase when the militants tried to infiltrate it.   A gun-battle ensued in the course of which both the terrorists were killed but Havaldar Kulwant Singh {and also Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh} was martyred as he succumbed to his own  injuries.  His extra ordinary courage in the face of the enemy came in for much acclaim from all across the country.

He is survived his wife Harbhajan Kaur and two young sons, Satwinder and Gursharan, one in class 12 and the other in class 6.

R.I.P Dear friend
