On the night of 01/02 January 2016, Havaldar Kulwant Singh and Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh were on
duty guarding the airbase when the militants tried to infiltrate it. A gun-battle ensued in the course of which
both the terrorists were killed but Havaldar Kulwant Singh {and also Subedar (Hon captain) Fateh Singh} was martyred as he succumbed to his own
injuries. His extra ordinary courage
in the face of the enemy came in for much acclaim from all across the country.
He is survived his wife Harbhajan Kaur and two young sons, Satwinder and Gursharan, one in class 12 and the other in class 6.
